Every book on here I recommend to everyone!
Mark of Athena
I recently read the book Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan. It’s about the seven chosen children of the Greek and Roman gods and goddesses. They have to travel to Rome and free Nico deAngelo from the twin monsters. Annabeth has to go and find the giant statue of Athena that disappeared from the Parthenon as well.
I enjoyed reading Mark of Athena because it had a lot of action scenes. I loved the scene when Percy and Jason are fighting the twin monsters; it was really suspenseful and exiting! Rick Riordan really has good word choice and foreshadowing in the battle scenes.
I would recommend this book to everyone because it has content that everyone would like.

Flipped
I recently read Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. It is about a girl and a boy who think they are complete opposites, but near the ending, they find out that they aren’t so different after all. The moral of the story is: don’t judge a book by its cover.
I enjoyed reading Flipped because it showed that people sometimes aren’t what they seem to be. The story has a very good life lesson: People can be very different on the inside. My favorite part was when Julie, the girl, climbs up in the tree to stop the men from cutting it down. I liked this part because when Bryce doesn’t help her, Julie starts to notice that Bryce isn’t as nice as he seems to be. The author wrote this story very well, because the concept was what happens all the time in real life.
A scene I can picture in my head very well is when Julie finds out Bryce has been throwing away her eggs. I can practically see the anguish on Julie’s face, a mix of sadness, anger, and confusion. I can also imagine Bryce’s expression very well. His face is a mix of apology, worry, and shame. I can just feel the hurt emanating from Julie, and the pure shame emanating form Bryce.
I would recommend this book to everyone ages 10 and above. I think quite a variety of people would enjoy this book because the concepts aren’t too hard, but the storyline is intriguing.

Ruby Red
I recently read Ruby Red, by Kerstin Geir. It’s a story about a teenage girl, Gwen, who finds out she can travel in time. She meets a boy named Gideon, and they go on time travel adventures together. At the end, will she and Gideon find out that they are falling for one another?
I enjoyed reading Ruby Red because it was a perfect mix of romance and fantasy. My favorite moment was when Gwen found out she could time travel. It was so suspenseful! The author wrote great foreshadowing in what was going to happen. I also loved the part when Gwen and Gideon found out that the liked each other for the first time. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next!
I can picture one part of the story really well. It’s when Gwen and Gideon time travel back to the eighteen hundreds, to meet Count Saint German. Gwen is wearing a long blue silk gown that billows out in lace and ruffles. Her dark hair is pinned up in loose ringlets. Gideon is wearing a button down shirt and olive green trousers. His hair is pulled back in a tiny ponytail. They are riding in a carriage down the streets of eighteenth century London. This part is when Gwen finds out that she might actually have feelings for Gideon after all.
I would recommend this book to teenage girls. Teenage girls would understand how Gwen feels about the stress of everyday life.
