This is the very beginning of my short story for my teacher Mrs. Lotton-Barker. I hope you like it! tears prickled behind her eyes and then began to fall. She wiped them away with the back of her gloved hand. “Ms. Heartwright, there you are! We were beginning to be affected by your absence! Why, those aren’t tears I see, are they? What is the matter?”
She had to stifle a laugh, for when Mr. Williams asked his inquiring questions on her behalf, he always used that funny voice that made her chuckle. “I am perfectly fine. I accidentally looked into a light in the ballroom and my eyes watered, nothing more.” She replied and tried to act serious, but hopelessly failed, for he was just so funny. “Alright, but come, dry your eyes. You can’t have your face wet while we are dancing!” “Oh! I completely forgot! I had saved you a dance! I am sorry, I will dance with you, no matter if that infernal man, Mr. Beckham, is still standing there and gloating over his winning our argument.” She stood up and realized that she and Mr. Williams were face to face, only inches away. They both blushed and quickly stepped away. After all, even being alone in a room with a single man was scandalous. We have been doing a Pride and Predjeduce lesson in school, and I am supposed to write a short story based on the book. Here is my idea:
Basic Exposition and info. · Year: 1812 · In London, England Characters · Eliza Heartwright (age 19) Main character Like Elizabeth Bennet, wild and short tempered She believes that marriage should be for love, not money or status. Brown hair, brown eyes · Charles Williams (age 22) Like Mr. Darcy, he seems like a pompous man, but he is actually very nice and sensitive. He falls in love with Eliza · Henry Beckham (age 21) Like Mr. Wickham, he seems good at first, but then he falls in love with Jenett East. He deceives Eliza and breaks her heart. · Jenett East (age 20) Eliza’s best friend Runs away with Charles Williams behind Eliza’s back Is a hopeless romantic Hope you like it!
